NCAAN is currently seeking strong candidates to fill the following positions:

Internships:
NCAAN seeks exceptional students and others with a passion for HIV/AIDS advocacy and the ability to make a minimum time commitment of 120 hours over three months or longer to serve as part-time interns. NCAAN interns gain substantive experience working directly with staff and other community partners on essential projects. We work with strong candidates to create win-win experiences that provide our interns with opportunities to gain experiences that will help them to reach their personal goals while helping NCAAN to advance our mission of fighting for the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, their loved ones, and those at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS in North Carolina. Many of our past interns have found jobs in their desired fields; others are continuing their studies; all remain involved in the wider community of NCAAN supporters. While NCAAN cannot offer internship stipends at this time, we do work with students to help them receive course credit or fulfill other academic requirements through their internships.

* Campus Ooutreach Internships: Do you want to make a huge difference by raising HIV awareness and student volunteer involvement at your college or university? NCAAN seeks outstanding, outgoing, and observant Campus Outreach Interns at the following North Carolina schools:
* Communications Internship: Do you have fabulous media skills and a desire to help NCAAN improve our communications? If so, we’d love your help! Duties may including helping to develop website content; build our social networking presence; write blog entries, press releases, and other NCAAN materials; and assist with other communications projects. Advanced undergraduate or graduate students majoring in communications, journalism, or related fields strongly encouraged to apply. Please include three representative samples from your portfolio with your cover letter and resume, and send all applications materials to Enrique Perez at enrique@ncaan.org for this internship opportunity.
* Regional Organizing Internship: Do you have significant experience building local visibility and grassroots support for a cause you care about? If so, we need you! Help us to build a stronger grassroots presence in your region of North Carolina by working with our staff and local partners on projects such as recruiting local members; leading local volunteer events; developing relationships with campus groups, civic organizations, faith communities, and other potential allies; and increasing NCAAN’s visibility in your region. We're seeking one or more exceptional candidates to be regional organizing interns based anywhere in North Carolina, including both urban and rural areas. * Special Events Internship: Do you have amazing event planning and management skills and a desire to help NCAAN run highly successful events? If so, you're just the person we're looking for to help us produce our major events this coming year! We're seeking one or more special events interns to help us run successful education, advocacy, and fundraising events in the coming year. Duties may include identifying and collaborating with community partners, helping to secure event sponsorships, generating publicity, helping with logistical details, staffing events, and carrying out other special event-related duties. We are seeking one or more exceptional candidate based in the Triangle, and will also consider extremely motivated candidates from other regions of the state. - For this position we are looking for applicants with excellent interpersonal and verbal skills. The Intern will be responsible for recruiting volunteers, educating students about issues affecting people living with HIV/AIDS, and advancing NCAAN’s mission on campus. The intern will also support NCAAN's work with coalition partners and may participate in community events near their campus. The intern will report to the Community Organizer. NCAAN welcomes internship applications from students who can make a minimum commitment of ten hours a week through the end of the semester or longer. Applicants should be committed to promoting responsible HIV-related policies and to fighting HIV-related stigma and underlying social inequalities including poverty, homophobia, racism, and sexism. Board of Directors:
NCAAN is seeking three new members for its Board of Directors.
The Board is charged with advising, governing, overseeing policy and direction, and assisting with the leadership and general promotion of NCAAN so as to support the organization’s mission and needs.
NCAAN strives to elect Board members who are living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and who contribute to Board diversity along lines of gender, geography, race and ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.
We are currently seeking Board members with skills and experience in finance, fundraising and/or marketing. If interested, please send a short paragraph describing relevant experience and/or a resume to the Nominating Committee via Laura Kirby, LKirby@wncap.org.
