The North Carolina AIDS Action Network and LGBT Center of Raleigh Funded for Vaccine Equity and Access Program
Raleigh – The LGBT Center of Raleigh and the North Carolina AIDS Action Network have been selected to receive a grant of $100,000 from Community Catalyst as part of their Vaccine Equity and Access Program. This program is supported by funding from the Centers for Disease Control. As part of this program, a diverse group of community members and leaders will be trained to share relevant messages about the importance of getting vaccinated, and vaccine clinics geared toward the LGBTQ community, communities of color, and individuals experiencing homelessness will be hosted.
“We want to make sure all Center particpants & LGBTQ residents in the Triangle are informed about the COVID vaccine,” says Kori Hennessey, Director of Education and Programs at the LGBT Center of Raleigh. “This program builds upon the Center’s long term commitment to advancing the health of LGBTQ people in Raleigh and North Carolina.”
“As we start to see an increase in COVID rates, there’s never been a more critical time to educate our community about the value of getting vaccinated”, says Lee Storrow, executive director of the North Carolina AIDS Action Network. “We want to make sure all residents in the triangle have good, quality information about the COVID and flu vaccines, and easy access to get their shot.”
The LGBT Center of Raleigh and the North Carolina AIDS Action Network will sponsor a vaccine clinic at Ruby Deluxe this Saturday, July 31st from 1pm – 4 PM during their Ruby Deluxe Community Market. Individuals who get vaccinated will receive a free beverage of their choice.
