The NC AIDS Action Network has a number of initiatives intended to move our state forward when it comes to HIV treatment and prevention and build the capacity of the movement and advocates. Our advocacy and policy work at the General Assembly has led to victories for those living with HIV over the last seven years. We have built strong grassroots leaders who have spoken up about HIV to policymakers, the media, and their neighbors through the HIV Medication Assistance Program (formerly known as the AIDS Drug Assistance Program) Stories Project and Speaking Positively program. Through the Women’s Empowerment Program (launched in 2014), we have invested in the stories and capacity of women living with HIV to be advocates, many who are still active in our work today.
