_Thank you Triad Health Project!
THP started out as a grassroots effort in 1986 during the emergence (and by many accounts, the worst) of the AIDS health crisis. Since then, the organization has evolved and is now a leader in North Carolina for HIV care and treatment, helping more than 500 people living with the disease every year. For NCAAN, THP has been a home away from our usual Triangle-based location. "They've been so generous about offering their facilities for our activities," said Lisa Hazirjian. "And their annual Winter Walk offers us such a great venue to reach people who care about HIV/AIDS and get them involved in our work." Along with health services, THP also provides emotional and practical support to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, their loved ones, and those at risk. It does this by implementing strategies to educate individuals and the community about HIV/AIDS, and by advocating locally, regionally and nationally for individuals and groups infected or affected. As a result of generous individual, foundation and corporate support; federal and state grants; and funding from local governments, all programs and services at Triad Health Project are offered to any eligible recipient free of charge. Other aspects that make THP great are its culturally diverse staff of nearly 20 and its volunteer base that exceeds five hundred. The organization is also a proud member agency of the United Way of Greater Greensboro and the United Way of Greater High Point. Lastly, a special shout-out thank you to Addison Ore, whom, along with being on the NCAAN Board, is THP's Executive Director. Join us in giving our gratitude to the Triad Health Project for its absolutely critical work in the community. Send them a big 'Thank You!' to thankyou@ncaan.org. |
